The most important festival for Chinese

All the Chinese people think Chinese New Year is the most important festival. It is also called Spring Festival and often in January and February. Chinese New Year has variety customs. All the customs have handed down by ancient Chinese from pass to present, so the meanings of Chinese New Year for Chinese are special, significant and impressive. The importance of  Chinese New Year can not be replaced by any other festivals, even foreign festivals. Moreover, Chinese New Year has a lot of well-known folk tales and mythologies  that all the Chinese could say. These stories have also handed down by people and books to express the activities which we do from ancient times to present times.

 The other importance meaning of Chinese New Year is to appreciate and memories gods and ancestors. People worship them by offering foods and holding traditional ceremonies that not only thank them use their power to protect family members but also hoping they could have a plentiful harvest from coming year.

Normal days, there are more than 1.3 billion Chinese spread all over the world. No matter where they live, all the Chinese family will reunion together to celebrate this festival, even in America or Canada, when the holidays are coming. They still follow the same traditions as Chinese who live in China and Taiwan to celebrate New Year. The most important time to Chinese is Chinese New Year’s Eve. Chinese think that all the family members have to reunion together to eat family reunion dinner. Eating the reunion dinner with families that family members could chat and share their life with each other. It is a way that all the family members could link the love and relationship more closely during these days. Eating the reunion also has another meaning. It is means families hope all the family members could be fine everywhere and every time.

In order to welcome the Chinese New Year, people will clean up old and poor things as well as old furniture. Red is a lucky color that could make evil spirits away in Chinese New Year. People write Spring Festival couplets on red papers, then paste the couplets on the doorframe. Children always wear new red clothes in this happy atmosphere. Adults will prepare foods that have lucky meanings, like fish and New Year’s cake. Fish means “ prosperity through every year” and New Year’s cake means “ to get promotion continuously”. For children, the most interesting thing is to receive envelope and play fireworks. Playing fireworks not just for fun, it also has different meanings. In Chinese New Year’s tradition, playing fireworks means to scare terrible monster away. People want to protect crops and tame animals from attack of the monster.

Every Chinese believe the Chinese New Year is the beginning of a year. People think that if they could pass a good year, they could have good luck in a year. The powers of God’s makes Chinese believe that god could protect all the family members everywhere. Although the time past year by year, no matter where Chinese people live, they celebrate New Year every year. By books and mouths, the stories and legends handed down from ancient time to present, so all the Chinese could remember it and never forget. They not only realize the lessons that the stories want to teach, but also teach it to their children that their grandchildren will also understand it, too. The most important of all, the ancient wisdom could not be forgotten. Chinese New Year contains numerous important meanings. The cultures and histories could not be replaced and disappeared. We should cherish our own traditional treasure as the most valuable in the world.
